Cà Phê Đen Đá
Vietnamese Iced Black Coffee

Bright, smooth Vietnamese iced black coffee brewed with Da Lat Dawn, a balanced Arabica and Robusta blend inspired by Vietnam’s highlands.

20g coffee 120ml water Optional sugar Serve over ice

Cà phê đen đá is Vietnamese iced black coffee made with strong brewed coffee, ice and sometimes a small amount of sugar. This version uses Da Lat Dawn, a smooth Arabica and Robusta blend that gives the drink a brighter, cleaner and more balanced taste.

This is the lighter, brighter side of Vietnamese coffee. Da Lat Dawn brings the aroma of Arabica together with the body of Robusta, creating a cup that feels smooth, lively and refreshing over ice. No milk, no machine, just coffee, water and time.

How to Brew

1

Set the Phin

Place your Phin filter on top of a glass or cup. Add 20g of Da Lat Dawn coffee into the chamber and shake gently to level the coffee bed.

2

Press Lightly

Place the filter press on top of the coffee and press gently. Do not make it too tight. The water should drip slowly, not get stuck.

3

Bloom First

Pour around 20ml of hot water over the coffee and wait 30 seconds. This helps the grounds open up and brings out Da Lat Dawn’s brighter notes.

4

Slow Drip

Add the remaining 100ml of hot water slowly. Place the lid on top and let the coffee drip for 4 to 6 minutes. The result should be dark, fragrant and concentrated.

5

Ice and Finish

Stir in 1 teaspoon of sugar if you want a slightly softer taste. Then pour the coffee over a glass packed with ice. Drink it black, cold and refreshing.

Brewing Tips

Want it cleaner?

Drink it without sugar. Da Lat Dawn has a smoother profile than a pure Robusta, so it works well as a clean iced black coffee.

Want it softer?

Add 1 teaspoon of sugar while the coffee is still hot, then stir before pouring over ice. This rounds out the bitterness without turning it into milk coffee.

Dripping too fast?

Press the filter screen slightly tighter or use a finer grind. A good Phin brew should take around 4 to 6 minutes.

Dripping too slow?

Loosen the filter screen or use a slightly coarser grind. If nothing drips after 2 minutes, the press is probably too tight.

FAQ

What is cà phê đen đá?

Cà phê đen đá is Vietnamese iced black coffee. It is usually made with strong brewed coffee, ice and sometimes a little sugar.

Is Da Lat Dawn good for iced black coffee?

Yes. Da Lat Dawn is a balanced Arabica and Robusta blend, which makes it smoother and brighter than a very heavy pure Robusta coffee.

Do I need condensed milk?

No. Cà phê đen đá is the black iced version. You can add sugar if you want a softer taste, but condensed milk is not needed.

How long should Phin coffee drip?

A good Phin brew usually takes around 4 to 6 minutes. If it finishes much faster, the grind may be too coarse or the filter press too loose.
